Texas Roadhouse Rolls (Copycat Recipe)
I love these rolls so much I had to come up with a way to make them at home. Now, no need to go out to get your fix—these melt-in-your-mouth dinner rolls are fluffy, buttery, and totally irresistible. They’re perfect for holidays, special dinners, or just because!
Ingredients
For the Rolls:
- 1 packet dry active yeast
- ¼ cup warm water
- ½ cup milk
- ½ cup buttermilk
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- Pinch of salt
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons softened unsalted butter
For the Honey Cinnamon Butter:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons honey
- 1 tablespoon confectioners’ sugar
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the yeast and warm water. Stir once and let it rest for about 5 minutes.
- Warm the milk and buttermilk in the microwave. Don’t worry if the buttermilk separates—it won’t affect the recipe.
- Stir the 2 tablespoons of softened butter into the warm milk mixture until melted.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the milk mixture, yeast, sugar, salt, and 1 cup of flour. Mix with a dough hook until smooth.
- Add the egg and beat until well incorporated.
- Gradually add the remaining flour until the dough pulls cleanly away from the hook.
- Form the dough into a ball and place in a greased bowl. Cover and let rise for 1 hour, until doubled in size.
- Turn dough onto a floured surface and roll out to ½-inch thickness. Cut into 12 rectangles.
- Fold the ends of each rectangle under to form rolls. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let rise for another 20 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake for 12–15 minutes, until golden brown.
- Brush warm rolls with melted butter if desired.
- To make the honey cinnamon butter, mix all ingredients in a small bowl until smooth.
- Serve the rolls warm with the honey cinnamon butter. Enjoy!
