Written by admin

Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes combine the cheesy, savory flavors of a classic cheesesteak with the saucy ease of Sloppy Joes. Ready in just 30 minutes, this simple dinner recipe is pure comfort food and bound to become a weeknight family favorite!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • ¼ cup A.1. Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon steak seasoning
  • Sliced provolone cheese
  • Hamburger buns or slider buns

How to Make Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes

  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook and crumble the ground beef, onion, green pepper, and salt until the beef is no longer pink. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Sprinkle the cornstarch over the meat and stir until well coated.
  3. Add the beef broth, A.1. sauce, and steak seasoning. Stir to combine and bring to a boil.
  4. Once boiling, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. The mixture will thicken as it cooks and even more once off the heat.
  5. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to broil. Place buns on a baking sheet and butter each one lightly.
  6. Broil the buns for just a few minutes until lightly toasted — watch carefully to prevent burning.
  7. Using a slotted spoon, scoop the meat mixture onto the bottom half of each bun.
  8. Top each sandwich with a slice of provolone cheese and broil again for a few minutes until the cheese is melted.
  9. Assemble the sandwiches by placing the cheesy top bun over the meat-filled bottom bun. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Nutrition is calculated for ⅙ of the meat mixture, one slice of provolone cheese, and one hamburger bun.
  • If using slider buns or feeding children, this recipe easily serves 8 sandwiches.
  • Toasting the buns is highly recommended for extra flavor and texture, but optional.
  • This is a quick and easy version of Philly cheesesteaks — not an authentic recipe!
