Written by admin

Sweet, creamy, and nostalgic—this Lancaster County favorite is a potluck classic!

There’s nothing quite like a classic comfort food, and this Amish Yum Yum Salad delivers every time. Known for its creamy texture and fruity sweetness, this dish is beloved in Amish communities and beyond. It works beautifully as a side dish or light dessert, making it perfect for family gatherings, church suppers, or holiday tables.

Ingredients

Ingredient Amount
Water 2 cups
Crushed pineapple (with juices) 1 can (20 oz)
Sugar 1/4 cup
Orange Jello 1 box (6 oz)
Cream cheese (room temp) 1 package (8 oz)
Heavy cream 2 cups

 Instructions

  1. Simmer the Base
In a medium saucepan, combine the water, crushed pineapple (with juice), and sugar. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 4–5 minutes, whisking frequently to prevent sticking.

  2. Add the Jello
Remove from heat and whisk in the orange Jello until completely dissolved.

  3. Cool the Mixture
Allow the Jello mixture to chill for about 30 minutes, or until it starts to thicken slightly.

  4. Whip the Cream Base
In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add the heavy cream, beating until fully incorporated and fluffy.

  5. Combine and Set
Pour the cooled Jello mixture into the cream mixture and beat until smooth and well blended.

  6. Chill to Set
Pour the salad into a serving dish, cover, and refrigerate for 3–4 hours or until completely set.

 Serving Tips

Serve cold as a side with ham or fried chicken, or enjoy it on its own as a light dessert. For a festive twist, top with a few maraschino cherries or mandarin oranges before serving!
