Cheesesteak Egg Rolls

If you’re a fan of Philly cheesesteaks and love a good crispy appetizer, these Cheesesteak Egg Rolls are about to become a favorite. Packed with savory steak, gooey provolone cheese, and sautéed peppers and onions, all wrapped in a crunchy golden shell—this recipe is perfect for game day snacks, party platters, or even a fun dinner twist.

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Egg Roll Wrappers 8
Provolone Cheese 8 slices
Steak Strips 1 pound
Green Bell Pepper (diced) 1
Onion (diced) 1
Olive Oil 1 tablespoon
Egg (beaten) 1 large
McCormick Montreal Steak Seasoning To taste
Vegetable Oil (for frying) Enough to fill a deep skillet

Instructions

  1. Cook the Steak and Vegetables:
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add steak strips and season with McCormick Montreal Steak Seasoning. Cook until browned and fully cooked. Remove steak and set aside. In the same skillet, sauté diced onion and green pepper until soft and caramelized. Combine steak with vegetables.
  2. Assemble the Egg Rolls:
Lay one egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with a corner facing you. Add 1 slice of provolone cheese to the center, then top with 2–3 tablespoons of the steak mixture. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, fold in the sides, and roll tightly. Brush the top corner with beaten egg to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  3. Fry the Egg Rolls:
Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry egg rolls in small batches for 3–4 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  4. Serve:
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces such as chipotle mayo, ranch, or cheese sauce.

Pro Tips

  • Make-Ahead: Assemble and freeze before frying. Fry directly from frozen, adding 1–2 extra minutes to cook time.
  • Cheese Options: Swap provolone for mozzarella or pepper jack.
  • Vegetarian Version: Use sautéed mushrooms or plant-based steak strips.

Final Thoughts

These Cheesesteak Egg Rolls are the ultimate comfort food—crunchy, cheesy, and packed with flavor. Whether served as an appetizer or main dish, they’re guaranteed to impress. Try them at your next gathering!
