Crock Pot Pepper Steak
A hearty, slow-cooked beef dish with bell peppers, savory gravy, and loads of flavor.
Ingredients
- 16 oz beef stew meat
- 2 bell peppers (any color), cut into strips
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1 can beef broth
- 1 can stewed tomatoes (with juice)
- Seasoned salt, to taste
- All-purpose flour (for coating meat and thickening)
Instructions
- Coat the Meat: In a large bowl, mix flour with seasoned salt. Dredge the beef stew meat until well coated.
- Brown: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the coated beef, garlic, and bell peppers. Cook until the beef starts to brown.
- Transfer: Remove the beef and peppers from the skillet and place them into a lined slow cooker, leaving the grease behind.
- Make Gravy: In the same skillet, add stewed tomatoes (with juice) and beef broth. Gradually whisk in flour, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens into a gravy.
- Slow Cook: Pour the gravy over the beef and peppers in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours until the beef is tender.
- Serve: Enjoy your pepper steak over rice, mashed potatoes, or egg noodles.
Pro Tip: Want it faster? You can adapt this recipe for the Instant Pot: sauté the meat and peppers on the Sauté setting, add the liquids, and pressure cook for 20 minutes with a natural release.
