Southern Sweet Potato Casserole

A classic holiday favorite with creamy spiced sweet potatoes topped with a buttery brown sugar pecan crumble. Perfect for Thanksgiving or any festive gathering.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sweet potatoes, cooked and mashed
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup half and half
  • ⅓ cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt

Topping

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup flour
  • 1 ⅓ cups pecan pieces
  • ½ cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, add sweet potatoes, brown sugar, half and half, butter, egg, vanilla, and salt. Beat with a mixer until completely smooth.
  3. Transfer sweet potato mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread into an even layer.
  4. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, pecans, and melted butter until a crumbly mixture forms. Sprinkle over the sweet potatoes.
  5. Bake for 35 minutes, then allow dish to cool for at least 20 minutes before serving.
Serving suggestion: Pair with roast turkey, cranberry sauce, and stuffing for the ultimate holiday plate!
