Looking for a quick lunch that tastes like it took all afternoon? This braided chicken cordon bleu puff pastry uses just 4 ingredients — flaky puff pastry wrapped around tender chicken, savory ham, and melty cheese. It bakes up golden and impressive in about 30 minutes, and every slice oozes with goodness.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1–2 cooked chicken breasts, sliced (rotisserie chicken works great)
- 6–8 slices deli ham
- 6–8 slices Swiss or mozzarella cheese (about 1½ cups shredded)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
- Roll the puff pastry sheet out into a rectangle on the prepared baking sheet.
- Arrange the sliced chicken down the center third of the pastry. Layer the ham over the chicken, then top with the cheese.
- Using a sharp knife, cut diagonal strips about 1 inch apart along both outer thirds of the pastry.
- Fold the strips over the filling, alternating sides, to form a braided loaf. Tuck the ends under.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
- Let it rest for 5 minutes, then slice and serve warm.
Simple, satisfying, and endlessly repeatable — this 4-ingredient braid proves that a quick lunch can still feel special. Enjoy!
