Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (or ground pork)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups green cabbage, chopped
- 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup uncooked white long-grain rice
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tbsp brown sugar (optional)
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- Brown the beef and onion in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Drain the grease and stir in the garlic; cook 1 minute.
- Add the cabbage, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, paprika, thyme, brown sugar, and vinegar. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Stir in the uncooked rice and simmer 15 minutes more, stirring occasionally, until the rice is tender. Serve hot.
